SUPPORTING YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM

There are many ways to support your immune system that are simple yet very effective. Listen to your body and give it what it needs!

Diet and Lifestyle

Fasting – If your appetite is lower than usual, trust that feeling and allow the digestive system to rest. Studies have shown the countless benefits of fasting. Oftentimes when we are sick, we don’t feel like eating. (an exception to this is if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive)

Hydration – focus on drinking at least 2L of filtered water per day and if available, add electrolytes for extra hydration.

Bone Broth and soups – food that is easily digestible, warming and nourishing. Scrambled eggs, paté, sautéed green vegetables, stews. My bone broth recipe is here

Eat Your Greens – load up on leafy green vegetables for their detoxification support and glutathione production

Anti-inflammatory foods – turmeric, garlic and ginger are immune supportive and have anti-inflammatory properties.

Dry Skin Brushing –to move the lymphatic system and improve detoxification

Reduce / Eliminate

Inflammatory foods - reduction of inflammatory foods, sugar, processed foods, alcohol and gluten

Corn, Soy and Wheat – these foods open up the gut and the blood-brain barrier which cause more neuro-inflammation, increasing the likelihood of headaches and inflammation circulating through the body.

Immune Support Protocol Explained

Support your immune system with the following protocol to boost your recovery and reduce the severity and duration of viral illness. If you are a current patient, please email me and I can arrange to have these products prescribed to you via your Vital.ly account.

Vitamin D

Fundamental to protecting mucous membranes against free radical damage, Vitamin D boosts immunity and production of white cells to fight infection and viruses, enhances mood and production of serotonin. The good news is, healthy Vitamin D levels can be maintained through sunshine once blood levels reach 100-120.

Vitamin C

The benefits of Vitamin C are widely known to alleviate viral and bacterial infections, it also protects the mucous membrane and boosts the immune system and white cells in the body. It's a powerful antioxidant and has been used successfully in IV infusions for chronic infections.

Zinc

A Pubmed article suggests that Zinc has a specific role in anti-viral immunity. When used alongside the vaccines, there was increased efficacy of the vaccine. Zinc also stabilises the ACE 2 access and boosts the immune system

NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine)

NAC is a precursor to glutathione, which is made by the body and is one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants. NAC significantly reduces the body’s systemic inflammation and upregulates the body’s ability to detoxify through the liver. NAC is sulphur based and is activated by sulphuryzyme which can also be found in green leafy vegetables in the diet. Tested in COVID infection – NAC inhalation 1200mg BD can also be given IV by an integrative doctor. (reference here)

Quercetin

This study has confirmed the anti-inflammatory effects of quercetin, which also neutralises free radicals. Quercetin is found in many plants such as capers, kale, apples, grapes and red onions to name a few. It also reduces platelet aggregation with AZ vaccine.
